Also, this was written more than a year ago....Google's made significant changes to Google Contacts since then, and I'm actually very happy with the way they work now (other than a few quirks!), but thanks for the input Jason! I see nothing wrong with the way gmail gathers contacts, rather it's the way the iPhone parses them that's at issue. Further, apple is not financing Google to make products for them and the iPhone was non-existent when gmail first appeared. Therefore, apple is soley responsible for this problem. Honestly if it bother you enough to write this article, maybe you should have bought a G1 (which I can attest has no problems managing contacts or making calls) or switch to the Verizon Droid. I also have an iphone and that isn't my biggest issue. Its that every time I try to import a contact list it always gets goofed up. Then I try to send an email to a group and like 100 empty email fields popup and gmail wont send until they are all removed. GMail is AWESOME, but their contacts SUCK! Yes, I think google contacts suck to!
